Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a sticky situation, whether it is on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, chewing gum eventually turns into a black smudge on your concrete. But usually before that happens, pedestrians and clients walking into a business will walk on the gum and track it in all over your carpets and entryway mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to track it somewhere else in your building.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Gresham OR. Find information on our methods below:
The best methods of removing gum from concrete depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the chewing gum was left not long ago and it has not penetrated the surface, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping the gum off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a workable substance compared to a warm and sticky mess. Once the chewing gum is frozen, we slide a putty knife or scraper under the gum residue. Next we move the scraper very slowly under the gum and the entire piece should then peel right off of the concrete.
The above process is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove gum that is already black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete, we use a hot water power washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal, we won’t use high pressure because that could ruin the surface of the concrete!
Our crew never uses any more pressure than necessary to clean concrete surfaces. These types of surfaces can be destroyed much easier than most people think, especially if they’re only 1-2 years old. Concrete can take up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal professional.
To completely remove gum from sidewalks and other commercial surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing equipment and powerful soaps that allow us to clean the surface without leading to any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure equipment, we safely remove gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our process will also eliminate bacteria and viruses that can be found in gum on concrete.
